Groundhog Day
Event Title: Iyenagar Yoga with Valerie

Valerie Striar has taught yoga classes in the Iyengar tradition for 15 years to
students of all levels. Her teaching is informed by the
anatomical clarity of Iyengar Yoga which modifies postures to support
students at different levels of ability. Postures, (asanas), which
help to strengthen the body, create space in our joints, align
posture, stretch and awaken muscles and understand how to work
dynamically without tension. Her class includes restorative postures which
calm the mind and body, bring better circulation and breathing, and
help heal the effects of chronic pain.

Valerie Striar trained with Master Iyengar teacher, Body Mind Centering
Practioner and Alexander teacher, Genny Kapular, for 12 years. Valerie
has taught in hospitals, studios and privately in NYC. She has worked
with students who have hip, knee and shoulder replacement, Parkinson's
Disease and Neuropathy. She has taught students well into their
eighty's and presently teaches at the Cosmopolitan Club in NYC and a
children's class at the Yogasana studio in Brooklyn. Valerie has been a dancer,
choreographer and performing artist and has a lifetime of experience working with the body.
